⌊ Website ⌋Address: Zalog pri Šempetru 21, 3311 Šempeter v Savinjski dolini
For millions of years, the Ponikvica Stream ran through the Ponikvanski Kras Plateau, trickled through limestone, and, in the heart of the Lower Savinja Vally, carved the magnificent karst cave Pekel. With a bit of imagination, one can discern an image of the devil above the cave entrance. Also, in the winter when the temperature in the cave is higher than the temperature outside, vapors can be seen coming out of the cave. That made people afraid of the cave, hence the name Pekel Cave (eng. hell).
The Pekel Cave is a karst cave with a long history. More than 3 million years old, it lies in the middle of the Ponikvanski Kras region, about 4 km north of Šempeter v Savinjski dolini. The cave was created by the Ponikvica Stream that disappears in front of the cave and reappears in the cave as the Peklenščica Stream. The 1159-meter long path through the cave is easy and well maintained.

The Green Gold Fountain is a tribute to the hop-growing heritage of the Lower Savinja Valley and Žalec, which is the hop-growing center of Slovenia. Slovenia is also the fifth largest producer of hops in the world and hop is the “spice” that gives beer its distinctive flavor.
In Žalec we wanted to connect history with today and set the foundations for an appealing tourist story for the future. The Green Gold Fountain is the result of these efforts. At the fountain, you can try 6 different types of beers.
Family restaurant 'PRIVOŠNIK'
Website, Address: Rimska cesta 150, 3311 Šempeter v Savinjski dolini
Guesthouse Privošnik is an old 'furman' guesthouse with more than 140 years of tradition, which has strongly influenced the offer of the guesthouse and despite the fact that it has changed in almost 150 years, we still revive delicious recipes from the times when the guesthouse prepared its dishes to the coachman on his way along the ancient Roman road. We maintain our offer at the traditional level, which grew out of the environment of the beautiful green Savinja Valley. We can say that we are committed to this tradition and that we continue the work of our ancestors with enthusiasm. The fourth and fifth generations of the family Privošnik are already serving here.
Seasonal cuisine, garden vegetables, homemade pork, homemade Savinja salami, juicy fried chicken, and, of course, Privošnik's flavors of homeliness in all dishes rank us among the top guesthouses and have been satisfying our guests for many years. We want you to feel at home with us and enjoy the delicious cuisine of the Savinja Valley.
